Tree Removal
Rest assured, we love trees, and removal is not a service we always recommend. But at times it is necessary. Tree removals are performed to eliminate dead and dying trees because they are a hazard not only to your property, but to you and your family as well. Removals are also necessary for light and for space so that other trees and plants are better able to grow. There is no need to worry when a removal is required because we provide you with more than thirty years of Certified arborist experience. We pride ourselves in treating your property as if it were our own with a thorough clean up of debris.
As part of the tree removal process, the stump will typically be left as close to the ground as possible. If needed, removal of the stump can be provided for an additional cost, as it requires use of additional equipment. Click here for stump grinding information.
Tree Pruning
There are many reasons for pruning a tree. The most important is for safety. Pruning is often carried out to minimize the risk of parts of a tree “falling” or failing or collapsing, that could lead to injury or damage. Trees should be pruned for removal of weakness in a tree, or dead growth. They are also pruned to remove living limbs to direct the growth of a tree and to maintain plant health and safety. Pruning to thin the branches helps to reduce storm damage.
Pruning includes:
- Dead wood
- Thinning
- Elevation
Tree Planting
Selecting a tree that will thrive in a given set of site conditions is the key to long-term tree survival and reduced maintenance. We always consider the following when selecting a tree with you for your property: soil conditions, exposure (sun and wind), drainage, space constraints, hardiness zone, human activity, and insect and disease susceptibility.
Organic Fertilization
Fertilizers provide essential nutrients that allow plants to achieve their intended purposes. Properly applied fertilizer helps trees and shrubs reward us with seasonal color, shade, wildlife habitats, and an improved home appearance and value. In our experience we found natural (organic or inorganic) fertilizers are best to provide nutrients needed for plant growth. We use organic fertilizer for all your tree and plant needs.
Providing the correct amount and type of fertilizer promotes healthy flower production and foliage growth, while applying too much leads to decline and death. Many gardeners have the false impression that the more they fertilize, the more their trees and shrubs will grow. Fertilizing does not always result in improved plant growth. Fertilizer is not plant food. Plants produce their own food using water, carbon dioxide, nutrients from fertilizer, and energy from the sun. Fertilizers provide nutrients that plants need in modest or small amounts and that may be missing from the soil. Call us to help diagnosis any needs your trees and shrubs might need.
Tree Risk Assessment
Often, by the time a tree shows outward signs of distress such as early loss of leaves or decay, the underlying issue has already progressed to the late stages. As experts in local conditions and tree problems, we meet with property owners to provide tree and shrub inspections. This process is invaluable in uncovering issues before they cause serious damage.
During an inspection, our arborists can check the overall health of the trees, look for signs of pest and disease infestations, identify any structural problems, and determine soil requirements. Based on the information found, we will then make recommendations on any treatments required. Much like a “doctor’s checkup,” this type of visit is essential to maintaining healthy trees.
