About Us
Our Story
We’ve partnered with local residents and businesses for more than 30 years.
I was born and raised in Rotorua, New Zealand and have been an American citizen for over twenty years. New Zealand is not only the outdoor capital of the world, but it is also home to over 574 native trees and shrubs in a country that is roughly the size of Colorado. Since I grew up in this beautiful country, trees are in my blood. Customers find that I am one of the most hard-working laborers in the tree service industry, and I credit this to my roots in the hard-working New Zealand farm culture. I began my career in the forestry industry during my teenage years in New Zealand.
I came to the United States on a rugby tour back in 1983. Prized more than the lush vegetation and hard work, rugby is New Zealand’s most prized and uncontested treasure. I began playing the sport by the time I was five and have not stopped my involvement with the game. I represented the United States on the US Eagles (National team) from 1987-1993 during which I played in the 1991 World Cup in England. I am currently coaching part-time as an assistant coach at Christendom College and a representative of the Crusader International Academy as well as a volunteer with the Serge Betsen Academy, a non-profit organization, in order to give back to the game. Beginning my career in the tree service industry while growing up in New Zealand in addition to playing rugby at a high level has shaped my business ethic. My small business has been family owned and operated for thirty years, which attests to my dedication and love for the tree service industry. I am a professional, dependable, and dedicated owner and operator, and I am teaching my son these qualities so that he can take over the business one day. I pride myself on treating your property with the highest quality of care, as if it were my own, as our reputation in the community means everything to us. We belong to the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and have the relevant insurance. Give us a call for a free estimate! We look forward to meeting you and servicing your property.
PJ Flay
Before I was 2 years old, my dad would take me with him in his truck to do estimates for tree jobs and when I was 3, I had my first small ax helping…or at least I thought I was helping Dad with the firewood orders. I grew up seeing my Dad work hard every day. He instilled in me the importance of good workmanship, being honest, fair and most importantly his love for trees and safe worksite practices.
Since I was homeschooled during my teenage years I could meet up with the crew at the jobsite and help them load wood, chip and climb. Although I was being educated to attend college, I knew in my heart I wanted to help run the business my Dad began and grew. Instead of attending college, I studied for and earned my Certified Arborist certification when I was 18 and recently earned my Tree Risk Assessment Qualification.
Today, my Dad and I keep our business standards the same: treat everyone’s property as if it is ours, working hard and providing excellent, safe and quality service each day. We always keep up with industry safety standards and I am keen on learning from others in the industry as I keep taking Continuing Education credits working toward my Certified Tree Care Safety Professional certification.
I look forward to continuing to work with my Dad side by side and learn from him taking over more of the day to day responsibilities of the business.
